It has taken me almost a year now of healthy eating to get to where I am five and half stone lighter...My health all be it somewhat not without its problems....such as being diagnosed in 2012 with Cardiomyopathy which came about after I had a cardiac arrest when I was out shopping in a supermarket...I have to thank the two people who came to my rescue and performed CPR...also the emergency medics who had to use the defibrillator a few times bringing me back..Also my thanks to the West Midlands Air Ambulance flying me to Oxford John Radcliffe hospital and to the medical staff at John Radcliffe..and those in the Cardiac department. I have since been in and out of hospital and my weight, well, did increase too because of poor diet and lack of exercise...!! Hmm not good! I did try a few attempts to lose weight through Slimming World and did manage to lose some weight...However, the group leader who was my inspiration and helped me find a different healthy living lifestyle...had to leave the SW because of his contraversial dietary way of thinking that was not the ethos of SW...who actually promote sugary snack bars that in some respects dont help...also the low fat diet isnt always healthy...Research has shown that good fats are actually better for you...and Sugar and low fat diets are not!..I changed my way of thinking and when he opened and started his own group I joined...from there I have taken up his guide to living a healthy lifestyle and not including the SW syns by including sugar, snacks and alcohol...as part of ones daily diet...For me refusing to touch all those and Bread too was liberating... it freed me being hooked on processed foods...I was eating natural foods that included good fats..nothing processed and I was losing weight...but also feeling better inside...I was listening to my body and what it needed not what I wanted or thought I wanted. I am still on that road to a healthy lifestyle and losing weight... I am still going along to SW as that helps me keep focused as well as S.L.I.M group and yes, I have a long way to go...but I will get there... I thank Steve and his partner Jac for giving me the support and encouragment to keep me on track....I am no longer on some of the medications I was on for Blood Pressure and Statins for cholesterol...I have decreased my blood pressure ...I also do not take statins... my cholesterol levels are normal...I have more energy...plus the will to live healthily...I value my health more than anything... When you come close to death...it makes you realise that your health is important....wish I had learnt that a long time ago...when I was eating crap unhealthy processed food products...full of sugar and additives...Sugar is the killer and it is more addictive than cocaine...not that I take cocaine...But now I can live without sweet sugary foods..and unhealthy fatty snacks...also my alcohol intake has reduced dramatically...I hardly have any now...except for the occasional glass of red wine...on special occasions...I drink lots of water...and I feel wonderful! Watch this space ....my life is changing...! You can change yours too!
